READING

This week we are looking at the text features of a non-fiction book (title, table of contents, keywords, glossary, index) and how they help us as a reader.

WRITING

This week we discussed what a resolution is and students wrote their resolutions for this year.

SCIENCE

We began our unit on rocks and soil this week. We started by exploring different types of rocks and their uses in the real world. Next week, we will examine the properties of the rocks we brought from home.

The note for the soil from home says to put in a cup. I thought I had some but cannot find them. If you have a clear, plastic cup at home, feel free to put the soil in the cup. If not, you may just put the soil in the plastic bag.

MATH

This week, we started our unit on numbers to 120. We will review place value, expanded form, and composing and decomposing a number but this time including the hundreds place.

No ASTROS homework this week! It will resume next week.

SOCIAL STUDIES

After the long holiday break, we revisited our classroom and school rules and expectations. Students worked in groups to create a skit/poster of a class rule and then presented to the rest of the class.
