The Lemonade War Week 3
DID YOU KNOW?
Our entire school is reading The Lemonade War? You can help your child achieve success in reading! Below are some tips to help your child succeed while reading this book and others.
- Read high-interest books to your child everyday as part of your family routine
- If possible, read high-interest books with one child at a time
- Eliminate distractions to help your child focus on the importance of reading
- Read with expression based on the punctuation mark
- Use different voices for the various characters. Act silly!
- Let your child see you point to the words that you’re reading
- Talk about the pictures while looking through the books
- Ask your child questions about things you read together
- Have conversations with your child about the things that interest him/her

Upcoming Dates
December 18- ROE Christmas Program - 3rd grade at 7 pm
December 19- Polar Express Day - students may wear pajamas to school, but please remember appropriate shoes for P.E.
December 20- Hawk Assembly (You will be notified if your student is receiving an award)
December 21- Winter Parties/Early Release
December 24th-January 8th - Winter Break
January 9th - Students Return to School
Attendance
- Please remember school hours are 7:40-3:10.
- Students are considered late to school after 7:45 (via school clocks).
- The building opens on the driveway at 6:55 am The front office opens at 7:15.
- Breakfast ends at 7:40. Students wanting breakfast need to arrive by 7:30.
- Students who leave before dismissal time at 3:10 are considered early sign-outs.
- To qualify for district level perfect attendance awards (Count Me In) at the end of the school year, students must be in attendance all day every day (no late to school/tardies or early sign-outs).

Early Release Lunches
Students will have the option of buying a lunch on Friday, December 21. Lunches will be taken to classrooms. No lunch visitors on this day.
Pre-K Dismissal Times
Pre-K Times for December 21st will be:
Morning 7:40-9:40
Afternoon 10:00-12:00

Treats for school
Just a reminder that any treats brought to school (birthday cupcakes, etc.) must be store bought with the ingredients on the box. Due to student allergies, we cannot allow homemade goods to be shared with other students. Birthday celebrations are held at the end of the school day. Food cannot be shared in the cafeteria.

In Red Oak ISD, we love our parent volunteers! If you would like to become involved in activities ranging from field trips to mentoring students and organizing classroom parties, please sign up to be a volunteer.
Red Oak ISD uses an online process that includes a volunteer database and allows teachers to post opportunities throughout the school year. You may sign up for as many events as you would like. Returning volunteers must sign up every new school year. Please click the link below to get started.
