Daily News

Hello! Welcome to the 2nd edition of our classroom news. Some reminders:

- Please send a snack for your child. We enjoy our snack around 9:45 a.m.

- In cold weather PLEASE send your child to school in warm clothes and snow pants, boots, gloves and hats so they can play outside in the snow.

- Thank you to parents who let me know in advance if your student will be missing school - this really helps me in planning.

Each week we try to have a "Student of the Week". This was a short week, so we didn't have one. Next week we will!

End of the 2nd Quarter

It's been very busy the last two weeks. We had STAR Math and Reading tests last week, our English Language Learners also had their ACCESS English tests in Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking. This week we are finishing our Language Arts unit on Fables and Folktales. In Science we are finishing the study of the Plant Life Cycle and Ecosystems. In Math we will be taking the unit test on Multiplication, Division, Area, Perimeter and Pictographs.

The Lightening Bolts

Our classroom has one Battle of the Books team, named the Lightening Bolts. They have been very busy reading their books and getting ready for the battle. They meet during lunch to discuss the books.

The Alcoa Eagles

The students are very excited about checking on the eagles twice a week (Mondays and Fridays) at school but you can watch the eagles live at http://www.alcoa.com/locations/usa_davenport/en/info_page/eaglecam.asp They may be interesting to watch at night. In February they should be laying their eggs, and we will be able to watch as they eggs hatch and the eaglets grow.

Holiday Party

Thank you so much to the parents who hosted our class Holiday Party. The students loved the chocolate fountain! They also enjoyed making cards and playing games. Thank you to the moms from our class who put this great event together!
