All About An Ecosystem
Animal Extinction
Let's say for a moment that the sea otter becomes extinct. Not much would happen, right? Wrong! The sea otter eats and controls the population of many ocean invertebrates, like clams and urchins. Without this feeding, the invertebrates would feed on kelp so much that entire kelp forests would be wiped out, eliminating many organisms' habitat!
There are many examples of ecosystems like the sea otter's. Like a bee, or a prairie dog, or a mountain lion, many species play keystone roles in their nature society, and without them, the whole surrounding environment will fail. So keep them alive! Don't hunt often, throw away trash, and find ways to keep them healthy and happy, so YOU have a place to look at and say, "that's amazing!"
