"Be Committed, Be Consistent, Be Courageous"
You Matter!
Hello Phoenix Nation,
Your presence is a gift. The world will not be the same without you. UHMS would not be the same without you. You matter here. Just like every seed that is sown into the earth has its place, so do you. Your place is here. Your place is here on good days and your place is here on difficult days. Even when it’s hard to see. Keep listening to the music that makes you dance and writing the letters that share your heart and taking weekend hikes that remind you of how wonderful the world is. You were chosen to be right here at UHMS. You know this is your calling because you’re still here day after day making a difference. A difference for scholars, a difference for families, a difference for each other. You are here to love our scholars. You are here to be loved by our scholars. You are here to love each other. You are here to be loved by us. We value and love every one of you and what you bring to our team. “Your happiness is meaningless unless it is linked with the total liberation of people around you! You matter; others also matter! Live life so well!”― Israelmore Ayivor
With Loving Hearts,
Priscilla, Chataqua, Chrissy, and Jabez
Walk-Through Focus
Scholar Engagement
- Turn and talks are purposefully planned into lessons at strategic times to deepen learning or stamp a key point.
- Consider how to weave in other techniques to increase scholar engagement - this resource from Dr. Marzano provides a few great tips: https://www.marzanoresources.com/resources/tips/hec_tips_archive
- Evidence of Similarities and Differences being used in the classroom.
- HERO is being used to track positive behavior and corrections
When administrators walk through your room, please do not stop instruction.

STAAR Goals
Important Announcements and Information!
Staff Culture Committee: The Staff Culture Committee is asking for $10 donation (optional) for the semester. Your $10 donation for the semester supports staff special occasions, staff events. See Trenese or Tiffani for more information.
RTI/SST: The RTI/SST process is for scholars that are struggling academically or behaviorally. If you have a scholar 2 or more grade levels behind in Reading or Math and are not showing progress with instructional interventions that have been put in place or are exhibiting extreme behaviors (hitting, kicking, throwing objects, or repeated disruptive behavior that is a distraction to the learning) it is time to begin the RTI and SST process for those scholars. The first step in the process is to identify scholars that need additional support and determine Interventions for the classroom teacher to put in place to best assist the scholar. The teacher is responsible for documenting for at least six weeks. SST Meetings will be held on the last Tuesday of every month during Admin Data Meetings unless otherwise notified by the Admin Team. Please read the RTI/SST Process in the Everything Binder. The October RTI/SST meeting for October will be held on 10/22nd. If you have further questions reach out to Cynthia.
Repeated for Your Convenience
ROCKTOBER! - Rocktober is just around the corner, and that means ROCKTOBER PEER OBSERVATIONS! Peer Observations will start on October 1st. If all observations are complete, you will earn AWESOME SWAG, so get observing!
ESL: All ELA teachers must be ESL certified by October 31st. Getting ESL certified is not an option. If you have questions or concerns see your dean.
