District 47 Update
Due to Gov. Pritzker’s Tier 3 COVID-19 mitigations that will go into effect today (Friday, November 20), please note the following:
- D47 Offices: All school offices and the District’s CORE Center will be closed to the public. Parents/guardians are still required to report student absences or illnesses via the school’s attendance line. For tracking purposes and our anticipated return to in-person instruction, parents/guardians are encouraged to contact the school nurse should their student test positive for COVID-19 or need to be quarantined.
- Tech Support: While school offices are closed, tech support will be handled at the CORE Center, 300 Commerce Drive in Crystal Lake. Tech support hours are 7:30am - 3pm, Monday through Friday. Parents/guardians should park in the lot on the west side of the building, come to Door 6 and knock on the door upon arrival. Tech support can also be accessed via email at techsupport@d47.org.
- Food Distribution: Breakfast and lunch for the week will continue to be distributed as a drive-through service on Tuesdays from 3pm to 6pm at Hannah Beardsley Middle School (515 E. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake) and Glacier Ridge Elementary School (1120 Village Rd, Crystal Lake). The next food distribution will be on Tuesday, November 24.

WPO Scrip Gift Card Fundraiser
It's "Virtual" Scrip Gift Card Time! For those unfamiliar, we use a company that offers a small percentage of each gift card purchased back to our school! So, get that holiday shopping started and support West all at the same time!
As with many things this year, the WPO has had to move their Scrip Gift Card fundraiser to online ordering only! This is a new avenue for this program, so we are all learning together on this one! The ordering must be done via the Raise Right app from your mobile device. Unfortunately, there is not a computer based option for this, at this time. This link will guide you to download the app. https://www.raiseright.com/
Once you have the app installed, you must go through the registration steps. Our enrollment code for West is: 41674E4B58L78
Once registered, you will go to the Eligible Brands section to find gift cards that can be shipped to home or you can utilize the eCard options also.
Once you have made your selections, you will need to select a payment method. Please DO NOT use the Pay Coordinator option, as we can not distribute cards this year! You will have to make payment directly.
We also have a list of Teacher's Prefered Stores for your reference. Note, with the new shipping method, not all stores are available via this online program; however, most are! Christy Bott will post the TEACHER PREFERRED GIFT CARDS in the file section of the WPO Facebook page for your reference!
Please reach out to Christy at christy.bott@gmail.com with any questions you may have.
Virtual Scholastic Book Fair
West Elementary's Virtual Scholastic Book Fair opened this week! Click here and select Shop Virtual Fair. 25% in rewards from every purchase goes back to West! You must purchase from the link for West to receive rewards. Book fair runs until November 29th.

Salvation Army
The holiday season will be upon us before we know it. The holidays can be fun but also stressful, especially with the current state of the economy. If you would like to receive assistance for the holidays, please contact the Crystal Lake Salvation Army. They will be accepting applications for assistance through Wednesday December 2nd . If you have any questions or would like to make an appointment, call 815-455-2769.
In addition, Salvation Army is inviting families for a Thanksgiving dinner Wednesday November 25th, from 11am to 3pm. There are options for attendees to eat at the facility with proper social distance or take a box meal home. Call the number above for more information or to volunteer.
20 Days of Gratitude
As we move into Thanksgiving and the holiday season, we’d like to tell you about the District’s new “20 Days of Gratitude” video series. Starting tonight and every school night moving forward until winter break, D47 will feature a short video message of “thanks” to those in our school community who’ve made this extraordinary year possible. The videos will be posted on the district’s social media channels (Facebook/Instagram: D47schools and Twitter: crystallakesd47). We would love to have our families and the community participate in this effort to lift others up with an “attitude of gratitude” by posting photos/shout-outs with the hashtag #D47thanksU. Do you know of a teacher or staff member going above and beyond? Please share your story and experience with our communications department at webmaster@d47.org. They will share some of these celebrations at their December board meeting.
