Academic Cheerleaders in Christmas Parade
Sponsors Wendy Hamilton and Bridgett Hayes were all smiles as their Austinville Academic Cheerleaders debuted in the Decatur Christmas Parade on Monday night. The truck, adorned in Austinville's colors and filled with these excited girls was driven by principal Beth Hales. This was the first time a group representing the school has appeared in the parade. This squad was formed in 2010 to support fellow students in the area of academics. The team works well together and has been a success as they perform at Student of the Month and other programs. Their leadership skills encourage other students and set an excellent example of the 7 habits.
Tracking LEO; Austinville's Mischievous Elf
Students don't use a GPS or even a map but they certainly have some seasonal instincts for locating Leo, Austinville's Elf on a Shelf. Leo appeared for the first time last year and students loved following his antics during the month of December. He reappeared on December first and has been at it again!
Student Council Makes Key Chains
Student Council members met Wednesday with a new project in mind. Members made
key chains for new drivers in Driver's Ed at Decatur High School. These key chains will be reminders for the beginning drivers to be careful on the road. Colored beads on the chains represent friends, children, animals, and others that drivers should be alert to as they are behind the wheel. It is a friendly reminder to always be safe.
