Our Week at a Glance
Reading: Finishing our unit on Nursery Rhymes and Fables-
Ask your student to recite one of the nursery rhymes they have learned so far. If they can't, here are some of the ones we have worked on so far, to help them get started:
•“Rain, Rain, Go Away”
•“It’s Raining, It’s Pouring”
•“Jack Be Nimble”
•“Little Jack Horner”
•“Jack and Jill”
•“Little Miss Muffet”
•“This Little Pig Went to Market”
•“One, Two, Buckle My Shoe”
If they can recite from memory, ask them if there is another nursery rhyme that is similar, and why it is similar. Be sure to let your child know how much you enjoy hearing about what they have learned at school.
Math: Students are working on their counting and one-to-one correspondence. Here is a game you can do at home: https://cliengagefamily.org/snacktime-counting/
Writing: Pincer grasp and using it correctly to draw horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines. Students can also practice making circles going to the left.
Social Studies: This week, your student is learning about authority figures.
Encourage your student to teach family members what they learned about authority
figures. Together, play a game of charades in which you act out authority figures and
others guess who they are. Once it is guessed, have a discussion about that authority
figure.
