Quetzal News

Dear Quetzal Families,

I was so happy to see you all last night! It has been a long time since we have had the opportunity to have these kind of events. Back to School Night helps us set up a teamwork tone for the entire school year. As I share with you last night, this year's community theme is "teamwork". We are beginning a school year were we are all working together as a team for the success of our Quetzales. As Henry Ford said, "coming together is the beginning, keeping together is process, working together is success". Cheers to a successful great year at Mistral!

I wanted to take this time to give a big shout out to our PTA and parent volunteers, who have been crucial at helping us set up a wonderful start of this new school year. I want to invite you to join our amazing PTA and volunteer for the multiple events we will have this school year. Remember to join PTA's Konstella. You can also be an active Room Parent. If you are interested in volunteering, do not hesitate to email mistralpta@gmail.com. Together, we built a wonderful community and "Be-Belong". As always, we are stronger and better when we are together!

A quick reminder about Thursday's lunch. Please remind your child that you would like for them to eat lunch at school. We are serving lunch in the MUR on Thursdays, and students will be dismissed at 12:25pm. Plan to come pick your child up at that time. Thank you for your support on this matter, as it helps us keep our students safe.

As part of our district's commitment to safety, our grades 2-5th had their Safe Routes to School training today. We want to thank the City of Mountain View for their support ensuring the safety of our children. Visit our social media for pictures of this event. *

Have a great weekend, stay safe, and be happy!

DISTRICT NEWS

School meals are free, but fill out the EzSchool Meals application to help your school

MVWSD will continue to provide free meals to all students as part of California’s universal meal program. Breakfast and lunches are available daily.

We ask you to please Apply at EzSchool Meals to help MVWSD receive additional funding to support students who are in need, and may help your family.

This Free and Reduced Price Meals benefit is not limited to meals only. If your child is eligible for free and/or reduced-price meals, your family could get medical benefits, housing benefits, utilities benefits and more.

Students who qualify for free and/or reduced-price meals may be eligible for P-EBT cards. The more applications your school gathers at the start of each school year, the more additional funding it can receive for all kinds of programs that help children at your school.

If you are currently out of work, you may qualify and help your school, regardless of your financial situation. Apply at https://secure.ezmealapp.com/ or call your school office.

Please Support Our Students!

MVEF raises money to provide all MVWSD students with an educational experience beyond what is possible with public funding. Help us fund programming for your child and every child in the district! We hope you saw the MVEF brochure (which doubles as a donation envelope) or watched the video during Back to School. Please see the website at mvef.org for more information and to donate online using ACH (from your bank account) or credit card. You can sign up to pay in monthly installments. Please consider joining our team of volunteers. Email us with any questions at dena@mvef.org. Thank you for your support!
