ESL Sequoia Alumni, Rick, Graduates from UC DAVIS!

Congratulations to Rick, the first Upward Scholars student to graduate from UC Davis!


Rick began his academic journey in the US when he enrolled into our ESL classes here at Sequoia Adult School. He then transferred to Canada College, where he earned his Associate of Science degree in mathematics and economics.


Rick graduated from UC Davis in December 2018 with a joint major in mathematical analytics and operations research and a minor in statistics. He currently works at a startup focusing on business strategy and data analysis.

18 week PAID pre-apprenticeship program starting in August 2019

Interested in a PAID 18 week Auto-Mechanic Pre-Apprenticeship program sponsored by the City of SF and SF Community College?


  • Must be 18 and over with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a Drivers License or in the process of getting one.


Open to all genders!!


You can earn 15 to 20$ per hour. Please read the information below and you can call Beli for more information.


This is an 18 week PAID pre-apprenticeship program starting in August 2019.


Program participants will learn:


  • Soft and hard skills (first 9 weeks)
  • PAID city internship (last 9 weeks)


At the end of this program, you will have the opportunity to get a career as an auto mechanic in SF Muni, SF Toyota, Golden Gate Bridge and other dealerships.
