From the Principal
This weekend marks an extraordinary time for our 2nd graders. On Sunday at Mass, they will receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Mrs. Kirkpatrick, Mrs. Leonowich, and Mrs. Craig have spent the year preparing these students. I know they are ready to accept this Sacrament with a loving heart and be united with Christ. My thoughts and prayers go out to all. God Bless each of you and your families.
Many blessings,
Mrs. Molly Hibler

News from the CYO Director
We have some changes to the St. Jude CYO Sports Committee. As many of you know, we have added lacrosse and baseball as CYO sports at St. Jude, and we are very fortunate to have Jason Danford as our Lacrosse Commissioner and Mike Kriesen as our Baseball Commissioner. Both of these gentlemen are incredibly passionate about these two sports and have had huge impacts on them in just the first season. For lacrosse, we had three teams in our inaugural year comprised of over 20 athletes and made our name for ourselves as a competitive lacrosse school within CYO. For baseball, we also had three teams with over 50 athletes participating. And although the weather made the Spring season very challenging, we have some very grand plans for the baseball program going forward. Also, with Mike heading up baseball, Nichole Sedivec will be assuming the role of Marketing Director. This role is critical for the long-term success of CYO, as she will be working with me to drive funding to pay for new uniforms, as well as improvements to the gym, fields, and other aspects of the program. Nichole will also continue to organize our CYO spirit wear. Finally, in the true spirit of CYO, we wanted to create a role that will give back to the community. That is why I have asked Meg Dooley to assume the role as Director of Community Engagement. In this role, Meg will be organizing activities that help out different organizations like Blessing House and Helping Hands. Meg is organizing a 5k that will take place on Saturday, August 3rd (link to register >>>> http://bit.ly/shadowstride), as well as a Dine-And-Donate on May 30th with the Wendy's on Cleveland Street, teaming with Eddie Brenot. ALL PROCEEDS from both events will go to the Blessing House and Helping Hands, respectively.
In addition to these roles, Dan Wooten will be replacing Joan Tanner as our Finance Director, and we will be splitting the Basketball Commissioner into a Boys and a Girl role, replacing Ross Phillips and Chris Dugan. Patrick O'Donnell will be the Boys Basketball Commissioner, and Allison Petrus will be the Girls Basketball Commissioner. With both of Joan's kids moving on to high school (and beyond), I can't thank her enough for her many years of tireless service managing CYO's finances. She will be working closely with Dan over the next few weeks to transition the role. And while both Ross and Chris will no longer be leading our basketball program, we will lean on them for help in transitioning the roles to Patrick and Allison. Their years involved with St. Jude Basketball has helped shape it into the great program it is today.
We are also looking for two individuals to step up during the 2019-20 school year. The first is for Sportsmanship Director. Mike Shebak will be stepping down from the role we created last year. In just one year, Mike has helped drive sportsmanship at St. Jude and made it an essential focus. Mike helped to foster a relationship with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and got us moving in the right direction. Secondly, Michelle Brusio will continue to be our Track & Field Commissioner, but she will be stepping down as head coach of the track team. If you are interested in this role, please reach out to Michelle or me. Michelle started the track program at St. Jude and has built it up to around 60 athletes and led us to many 1st and 2nd place finishes at significant meets like the Wasmer Games over the past few years.
Lastly, I am pleased to announce that Patti Vinning will be working closely with Brian McTaggart to help manage our facilities. This role is the engine that keeps CYO sports moving since it involves so many different pieces, including scorekeeping, concessions, field & court conditions, and site directing.
So as we just about close out the 2018-19 CYO season, I want to thank Joan, Mike, Ross, and Chris for their outstanding contributions over many years, and welcome Jason, Mike, Nichole, Meg, Dan, Allison, Patrick, and Patti to their new roles.
