Letters of Recommendation

It is recommended that most students choose two important people to write their letter of recommendation.

Choose someone who knows your best strengths academically which lends to the major you are seeking. For example your Art teacher if you are majoring in Art, or your math teacher if you are choosing a STEM career etc... In addition, choose someone who knows you beyond just your academics and knows you for your character, leadership, etc.. This person should not be a member of your family or relative.

Your school counselor is always available to write a letter of recommendation however, this is rarely a requirement.

Always ask for your letter of recommendation a minimum of two weeks in advance. Provide your recommended with your high school resume of accomplishments or fill out a student information sheet (see below).

It is best practice to send any recommender a note to thank them for writing a letter for you.
