A Message About Dual Credit
It is time to start thinking about your Spring dual credit course(s). Registration for Northlake began on November 22nd for current students and November 28th (today) for new students. Over the next few weeks I will be calling each of you down to discuss your current courses and plans for the Spring semester. The deadline to register is January 11th.
IMPORTANT: If you did not pass the TSI or have not yet taken it, then you need to arrange to get this done soon. You can go to the Coppell Northlake campus Mon-Thu from 8:30am-7:00pm or Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00am-3:00pm (Note: Saturday testing ONLY at Irving campus, you will need referral from Coppell campus to go).
Poetry Slam- December 6th
Please join us if you can for an exciting evening. If you can't, your $5 ticket donation will still go to a very worthy cause.
This year the Rookies have selected The Rapha House, which is a non-profit that works to rescue children that are being trafficked and then provided services for their reintegration with education, counseling, safe houses, and other support services.
The event will include performances of originally written and researched poems about global social issues, a silent auction (see attached for one of our special auction items), t-shirt sales, and a bake sale. All profits from the event will go to The Rapha House.
Last year the Class of 2019 raised $2796 for Aid for Africa. The Class of 2020 would like to surpass them and have a goal of $3,100.
How you can help, you can purchase this year's t-shirt, donate an experience or product for our silent auction, purchase a ticket from any Rookie, or even hang up the poster attached to help us advertise.

What will this mean for New Tech? Some basic information about a modified block schedule was shared with members of our Site Based Decision Making team and we will have various levels of input to help us with our schedule for next year. CHS is having their parent information meetings on November 9th and 14th at 6:45 in their auditorium. We will have parent and learner feedback sessions over the coming weeks. Please see next week's newsletter for dates. No decision has been made about the New Tech schedule for next year yet and you can be assured that we will be thoughtful, learner-centered, and innovative with our thinking.
