Sleep Much?

How much do you sleep?
Teens need at least 9 hours of sleep every night. You don't get that much do you? Studies show that teens need the most sleep. Think about it. Your Selective Attention is much better when you get enough sleep.
SLEEP CYCLE
Stage One
This is the first 30 minutes of your sleep. You can be easily wakened because you're in your lightest sleep, which means your brainwaves will also be slow.
Stage Two
This is about 20 minutes after the first stage. In this stage, your body temperature decreases and your heart rate slows.
Stage Three & Four
These stages are your deepest sleep. It would be very difficult for someone to wake you up.
REM
In this stage, you will have Rapid Eye Movement, which is the stage associated with dreaming. This concludes the Sleep Cycle.
- Individuals on average repeat the sleep cycle four or five times per night.
- The average person spends 1/3 of their life sleeping.
Levels of Consciousness
Pre-conscious Level
In this level, your ideas or concepts are stored in your awareness, but not active.
Un-conscious Level
In this level, your ideas or concepts are inactive.
Non-Conscious Level
In this level, your basic biological functions are stored.
FACTS
- When you're sleeping, you are in an altered state of consciousness, which means that you're no longer aware of what is going on around you.
- You sleep in Circadium Rhythms, which are biological clocks or biological patterns that repeat.
THINK ABOUT IT
Next time you think about sleeping in on the weekends, remember that isn't "catching up" on your sleep.
Getting the right amount of sleep will make you healthier and smarter. As seen in the photo above, most teens sleep in class, which can make your grades go down and make things bad on you.
Sleep is very important to your body.
