GRE Family Gazette
January 7, 2019
Dear GRE Families,
Happy New Year GRE! We rang in the new year at school with a Photo Booth full of fun! We are so excited to be back together to tackle the second half of the school year. Hopefully you found time to enjoy the family and rest up a little. We are really looking forward to the upcoming events we have planned including Eagle's Nests this Friday. We will be back in our cross grade level groups to talk about how to "Be a Communicator". We really rely on our older students to show our younger students what it means to be at GRE. This is just one way we foster a strong sense of community within our school.
We are in the process of finalizing details for our upcoming STEM/Literacy Night on January 17th at 6:00. We hope you'll consider joining us. More details will be sent about this exciting event soon!
Here's to a great week full of fun, friends and learning!

A Few Important Reminders:
1. Be sure to send your child's Report Card envelope back to school with a signature. We want to make sure all our families received this important progress information. It came home in backpacks on December 19th.
2. Mrs. Doran needs our help! GRE has been awarded a Delaware Arts Festival for Collaborative Art Grant. To bring this vision to life we need bottle caps. Check out the information below to help us out.
Don't forget...
Special Spotlight: STEM with Mrs. Keller
Kindergarten has free choice stations! Students can choose from building, circuits, OSMO, Ozobots, create a parachute or sleigh for santa and many other options. In small group, students are learning to draw code the mini Sphero through a maze they’ve created.
First Grade just wrapped up learning about Google Drawings and Google Slides. Students learned how to insert text, take pictures and insert shapes. First graders were recently introduced to Makerspace and are loving planning out their ideas and then using materials to create and bring their ideas to life.
Second Grade is working on creating a carnival game. Many students are finishing up their games and making improvements. All games will be displayed at STEM Night in January. More information to come!
Third grade is in the process of imagining and planning their passion projects. Passion projects are projects that students design based on their interests and something they want to learn about.
Fourth grade just wrapped up a reverse engineering snowflake project. The project also focused on growth mindset and 21st century skills.
