Mrs. Weegar's First Grade

Week of February 10, 2014

Library Reminder!

We go to the library each Friday at 1:15. Please help your child remember to bring their library books to school with them every Friday. They will not be allowed to check out new books unless the two books they checked out the previous week have been returned.

This Week's Spelling List

**Please remember that you will need to have your child practice spelling these words at home this week so that they can feel successful on Friday's spelling test. Also remember that the test is in dictation form where they will need to include a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence only, and a correct endmark.**

Challenge Words

This week in Language Arts

-We will use a Flow Map to sequence events from a fictional story.

-We will then use a Flow Map to sequence events from a real-life event.

-We will be concentrating on writing complete sentences.

It is true!

Some of the students figured this out before I even told them as they watched my growing belly, but, is true! Mrs. Weegar has Baby Weegar #3 on the way! Baby is due at the beginning of September and we are very excited to become a family of five in the fall!

  • We are going continue talking all about money this week!
  • We will identify and discuss the value of a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter.
  • We will identify the features of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters.
  • We will count amounts of money less than $1.00 using these four types of coins.
