Our Tweetcher for the Week of 11/26 was.......Jaime Woods
Since Jaime doesn't have a Twitter account, she emails pictures of her students learning. Jaime is a great example of ways that staff can still share classroom news without a social media account!
Thanks for sharing your classroom's story Jaime!
Our Tweetcher for the week of 12/3 is......Trista Himes
This picture was a a great opportunity for us to show our community that we do much more than just teach their children.....we love and take care of them like they are our own. Pictures like this always make an impact on our parents and community!
Way to go Trista!

******************FROM DESTRY'S DESK***************
Christmas time is always an extremely busy time of year, both in our personal lives and our professional lives. At home, we are busily taking care of all of our Christmas lists; cooking, attending family events, and the list goes on and on. At school, we are preparing for the end of the semester while students have visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads. Activities at the schools are happening almost every night. So, not only are the kids distracted with sugar plums, they are just plain tired. And so are we!
Knowing that we are approaching a great crescendo of activity, and that sometimes we can all be cranky and impatient, please take a moment each day to step back and refocus on the things that are vitally important to you. If you are like me, I get so busy and caught up in little, meaningless items I forget about what is most important.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I wanted to share information about a couple of items:
- Team Cardinal has approved sending the sick leave pool policy out to all staff. Along with that information, we will be asking everyone to vote whether this is a good benefit that we should make available to staff or not. This vote would in no way tie you into anything. It is simply a question as to whether you think it is a good benefit to offer to our staff. That information should be going out this week.
- The Board of Education will be hosting a staff luncheon on December 21st, beginning at 1:00 at Clinton High School. I realize that is a late lunch but it will allow everyone time to dismiss students and get there for lunch.
- December 21st is a work day after we have dismissed students. This is your time to work to complete grades or whatever you need to do. The administrators will not be checking to see who is in the building during the afternoon. So, if your necessary work for the end of the semester is complete and you decide to leave, you may do so.
We have had a great first semester. You have worked hard to help each of our students achieve at high levels. You have provided for many of their basic needs as well. Thank you for being champions for our kids!
******************FROM THE BUSINESS OFFICE***************
Hello CSD!
December pay date falls on Friday, December 7th.
Snow day options for hourly employees: When the district is closed due to inclement weather, hourly employees can submit annual leave in order to receive pay for the day missed. Or leave does not have to be submitted but pay will not be loaded for that day. Please let me know if you have any questions!
As always, I’m here if you have any questions regarding leave, payroll, and benefits!
Have a good one, my friends!

*Tell us what you do in the CSD, how long you have been here and why you enjoy being a Cardinal.
I am a first grade teacher at Henry Elementary. This is my 2nd year teaching here! I love being a Cardinal because everyone is so welcoming. I did my student teaching here and from day 1 I felt like this was where I needed to be. The staff, students, and community are all welcoming and helpful!
*Tell us a little bit about your family/where you are from.
I am originally from Knob Noster, MO. I was born and raised in a military family and a family of teachers. Every member of my family teaches in some capacity! My mother and sister both work Early Head Start in Sedalia, and my dad teaches middle school and high school History at La Monte.
*Best vacation you've been on and why?
The best vacation I've been on was my trip to Alaska during my sophomore year of high school. I was able to visit a friend for Christmas that had moved away due to the military. It was my first time EVER flying!! While in Alaska, we stayed at the Alyeska Ski Resort in Girdwood-- if you ever visit Alaska you HAVE to stay there! I learned how to ski and snowboard, visited a nature sanctuary, and spent time with old friends!
*Favorite, can't miss television show?
Right now my go-to TV show is The Resident! It's so dramatic!
*Describe yourself in 3 words.
Caring, supportive, and fun!
*What are 3 things people would be surprised to know about you?
- First, I love to travel! I'm taking a trip to Portland this Spring!
- Second, I always thought I would be an upper elementary teacher-until I did my Clinical Rotation that is!
- Third, I love challenging myself. Some people see challenges as a struggle they have to make it through, but I love being challenged!
FUNNY PHOTO OF THE WEEK!
The Clinton Technical School staff had some fun with a "situation" at their building last week. While their roof is being repaired, a "porta-potty" was delivered for the roofers....and dropped off in a not so discreet location.
We'd like to challenge you to find humor in your buildings. If something funny happens in your building, send a picture to alawson@clintoncardinals.org. The best ones will be featured in the staff newsletter!
A special thanks to B & B Portable Toilets for making this partial CTS staff picture possible.
