Carolina Springs Elementary
December 2023
A Message from Mr. Brown
It is had to believe that we are almost halfway through the school year. Your children have done some incredible learning so far this year and we are very excited about the progress that they have shown. We have made a point to teach school wide expectations for learning and behavior and celebrate when students have demonstrated excellence in both areas. Students will take iReady this month to "show what they know" at the mid point in the school year. Please encourage students to do their best and sow perseverance in their work.
At the November School Board Meeting we were awarded as a "School on the Move," based on the progress we made on our school report card. This is an amazing honor! We are so proud of this accomplishment, but we will continue to work towards being rated as an "Excellent" school in the future.
As the Winter Break approaches I want to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.
Let's be Heroes, Huskies!

Lost and Found
Please make sure your student checks lost and found to see if they have any items that they may have misplaced that have been turned in. We have lots of items currently in lost and found that we need to get cleared out and back to their owners!

A Note from the Nurse
Please remember to pack an extra change of clothes for students in their bookbag that are winter weather appropriate. (long pants/long sleeves) This way, if an accident occurs (spill, etc.) your student(s) will have a change of clothes here at the school that is appropriate for the weather change. Thank you!

South Lake Elementary School Attendance Lines Information Nights
Why this is important: The proposal impacts the attendance lines of Saxe Gotha Elementary and Carolina Springs Elementary, meaning some children who attend these schools this year may be zoned to attend South Lake Elementary School starting in the 2024–25 school year. How to learn more: The district will hold two public meetings where employees, families and community members can review the proposed attendance lines, hear about the grandfathering option for current fourth-graders, and ask questions of district representatives.
Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at Saxe Gotha Elementary Cafeteria
Monday, Dec. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at Carolina Springs Elementary Cafeteria
Give input: Employees, families and community members have multiple opportunities to give input: Speak with district representatives at the public meetings listed above. Speak during the public hearing on the attendance lines at the Tuesday, Dec. 14 board meeting, which starts at 6 p.m. at the Pelion Performing Arts Center. Sign-up to speak at the public hearing opens at 5 p.m. and closes at 6 p.m. You must be present to sign up to speak.
23-24 Annual Title I Meeting
Mr. Brown held the 2023-2024 Annual Title I Meeting on October 24 at 3:00 p.m. via Zoom. He shared what it means to be a Title I school and how the additional funds aid in the education of our students. Please use the link below to review the slides and complete the survey.
