One Book at a Time
Monstrous Success at the Book Fair
Speaking of Makerspace opportunities - let me tell you a little bit about our Monster Makerspace. The concept of a Makerspace is to provide a time and a place for students to come create, innovate, explore, and get hands-on with a variety of materials. This can include technology, science and engineering experiments, math exploration, arts & crafts, and much more. The library of today is all about learning in any and every way possible!
CR students had an opportunity to participate in a variety of arts & crafts activities in preparation for the Monster Book Fair. Perhaps you saw their handiwork when you visited the fair. Students had a wonderful time creating Lego monsters, giant monster murals, origami bookmarks, and even junk monsters out of recycled materials like fabric and toilet paper tubes. Thank you for all of the donations that made our Monster makerspace a huge success. We will feature other opportunities during the year for various age groups to get hands-on with learning.
Have You Read an E-Book lately? Help us Reach our Goal each Month!
The CR Library has set a goal to encourage all readers to explore and read e-books. We don't ever expect for print books to disappear, but e-books have amazing things to offer. Personally, I love listening to audio books while on a road trip or taking a walk in the evening. And unlimited access to e-books while travelling sure beats carrying a huge stack of books in my suitcase. Students today will be expected to navigate e-books for a variety of purposes, so it's important to begin learning the advantages and disadvantages now, as well as gain strategies for getting the most out of them.
Help us reach our goal - reading more e-books each month this year than we did last. Every reader who successfully completes an e-book may click on the link below to receive a free CR spirit key ring, thanks to a generous donation from Spirit Monkey.
Feel free to stop by the library or contact Mrs. Howk if you have any problems with accessing Overdrive. Or join us on Nov. 2nd at our Literacy Night to learn more about this amazing resource.
