COVID and Impact on EagleNation
EagleNation,
Thank you for being supportive of us as we took our 1/2 day this morning and offered remote learning in lieu of in person knowing the staffing shortages we were facing. We are hopeful on Tuesday to see numerous staff back across our district. You can see below that we had 29 staff out today alone, compared to 16 last Friday. A positive change the IDPH/ISBE just announced is that we will see students coming back earlier due to the updated quarantine guidance previously 10 days, now 5 days, helping our students return to in person instruction sooner. Please remember to remind your students to mask regularly upon return, wash their hands, and follow other mitigation strategies. Our numbers across the district are surging much like we are seeing everywhere, but I am hopeful that we are peaking and will start to see a decline very soon.
If you or anyone you know is interested in being a substitute (in any area), please have them call our Central Office and talk to Ann Fromme at 618-377-7200 or stop by our Central Office at 101 School Street to pick up an application. We have just increased our pay rates for our substitutes. Please see our flyer below.
In addition, if you are a parent who would like to volunteer to fill in on those spots where we simply need supervision, please reach out to your building principal. We especially need help during our lunch shifts. This varies in time in each building from around 10:15 am-1:15 pm each day. We need all of the help we can get at this time during our school day, please reach out if you can help us.
We are also asking our spectators who attend our athletic events to wear masks. If we can't meet these expectations, we may have to limit spectators at our future events but want to give the amazing fans of EagleNation an opportunity to solve this concern on their own. We appreciate your support.
As always, please continue to keep your child home from school if they are symptomatic and contact the school regarding your testing options.
Thank you for your continued support and patience, it takes us all working together on behalf of the students we serve to get through situations like we are currently facing. We hope you all stay safe with the winter weather coming in, and enjoy the long, holiday weekend, Jill

Transportation and COVID IMPACT
The Bethalto School District, thanks to the dedication of the transportation and maintenance staff, is "holding on" with providing bus transportation for students. This being said, continuing this service for all bus students is becoming more challenging. Currently the district has 1 driver, 1 monitor, and 1 maintenance staff members out related to COVID-19. The district has been using maintenance personnel to drive buses since the start of the school year, due to the national bus driver shortage.
If the current COVID-19 related situation deteriorates, the district will have to balance how to transport as many students as possible, while facing the reality of not being able to provide for all. The district is already running about the tightest schedule possible, because of the stated national bus driver shortage. If necessary, the district will have to cancel specific bus routes. The plan is to communicate this information to parents with as much notice as possible, but ask for recognition that the reality of the situation does not always allow for the advanced notice we would typically like to provide.
We appreciate your continued support of our drivers, monitors, and maintenance personnel.
