CGB Elementary News
May 5, 2023
We are welcoming May with a week of very nice weather. Students are enjoying getting outdoors and enjoying a snow-free playground and dry ground to have PE, recess, and learning outdoors. Throughout the last month our students have showcased their musical and acting talents. Please read on to see some of these pictures and events.
Our last day of school is scheduled for Wednesday, June 7th. We appreciate the patience of families as we navigated the 26 interrupted days of learning due to weather. The school year will certainly be extended and we have many exciting activities and quality learning the last few weeks of the school year.
Please take the time if you have an opportunity to thank a teacher next week during Teacher Appreciation Week. We have great teachers who give so much time, energy, and care towards our students. I am proud to see their hard work and dedication they bring to their students each day.

Math Curriculum Update
We finishing a year long research on math curriculum. Our math curriculum was last updated around 10 years ago. As part of a curriculum cycle, each department reviews curriculum and textbooks every 5 years. This year our math committee met throughout the year and are recommending the Big Ideas math curriculum for next school year. Below are links to the the K-12 math curriculum. The links will give you an overview of the curriculum as well as links to preview textbooks.

Article
I wanted to share an article about kids and behavior. As educators and parents, raising kids is a challenge and joy for all of us. It is a great, short article that talks about managing behaviors of kids and how to respond to it. Please take a moment to read it.
