REPORTS WENT HOME TODAY
What We Are Learning
This week we are still working in unit 9 Similarities & Differences and Plants.
Our Main Goals this week:
Language: Children will be able to identify the letter J and things that begin with the letter J. Please continue to review all the letters at home. We will be playing the game Make It, Break It. In this game we will say a word like "fox" then we will break it a part. We will say the first sound and leave the rest of the word in tact- /f/-ox. We are verbally teaching blending of words. This becomes a skill as we head toward reading.
Math: Your child will be able to rote count to 30 (4 year olds) and rote count to 10 (3 year olds) and start simple math equations where we are composing and decomposing the number 5. We are playing a lot of math games during centers. We are also continuing to review all our shapes and colors.
Social Studies: Your child will be learning the importance of farmers. What they do to help the community and how their products impact our lives. Right now is a great time to explore a local farmers market on the weekends. Dallas has a really good farmers market downtown if you would like a weekend trip. This will lead us into our next unit which is animals- we will then look at farm animals and their importance to our community and the products they provide.
Science: We are becoming excellent gardeners. This week we will focus on insects and their part in a garden. We have good bugs for the garden and bad bugs in the garden. We will be studying the lifecycles of different insects.
