A Message from the Principal
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! We hope that 2020 will be a year filled with blessings, good health, and prosperity for you and your family.
It is great to have our students back in the building for this first week of the 2nd semester. While everyone enjoyed their break, we missed the interaction with our students, and we are glad that we are all back together again.
As always, the 2nd semester is challenging and very busy with the acceleration of our academic courses and extracurricular activities. It is going to take everyone, teachers, counselors, administrators, and parents to keep our students focused and on the right path as we go through this winter/spring semester.
- Please note the following events for each grade level:
- Freshmen- Erin’s Law presentation on January 22, 2020, during the JAG period. Boys and Girls will meet separately for this state-mandated presentation.
- Freshmen/Sophomores- Mid-year Scan Tron Testing
- Math, January 9, 10
- English, January 15, 16
- Sophomores- Counselors went into 10th grade Science classes today to discuss Pre-ACT Results and how to interpret those scores. Counselors will also provide students with a website for resources. Please ask your student for this hand-out. Our Counselors keep this website updated with all pertinent information.
- Juniors- Junior Parent and College Planning Night is January 14, 2020, in the Theater at 6:30 pm
- Seniors- Senior Parent and College Planning Night is January 16, 2020, in the Theater at 6:30 pm.
Please save Tuesday evening, February 6, 2020, for our Curriculum Night. Curriculum Night is a night to prepare you and your student to select courses for the 2020/2021 school year. We will present opportunities and options that can be of great value to your student’s high school career. More details about this important event will follow at a later date.
PBIS is the recognition of the winners in our ongoing Positive Behavior program. Please join us in congratulating the students who were selected by their teachers for exhibiting positive behavior for the 2nd nine weeks.
Congratulations to Mrs. Danelle Cash, SPHS French Teacher, for being recognized as a Featured Teacher by the Alabama Chapter of American Association of Teachers of French. We are so proud of Mrs. Cash's contribution to the World Language Department and all she does for Spain Park.
As always, I am available to hear your feedback on how we can make SPHS a great place to be.
Respectfully,
Peter L. Giangrosso
