Mavericks Team Update

December 2, 2015

Class Information

Math-Students will informally prove the exterior angle theorem: that the exterior angle of a triangle will equal the sum of the two remote interior angles. In other words, the exterior angle of a given triangle will equal the sum of the two other interior angles. Students will continue to practice with triangle interior and exterior measurements.

Science-Yesterday, students were given a copy of the study guide. Some students were hesitant to bring the study guide home with them so I resorted to watching them place the paper in their binder. If students work on that study guide, there is no reason why they shouldn't be able to score very well! The test is on Thursday. We played a Kahoot review game today and on Tuesday in preparation for the test. We worked again on our commercials for our geologic time travel project today.

Social Studies-

English Language Arts - Today students will be first completing yesterday's graphic organizer for evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of using different mediums within an article. They will then complete some comprehension assignments which requires them to analyze a graph and its relationship to an article. Then, students will choose two articles from Junior Scholastic in order to complete graphic organizers to help them summarize the articles, then use one article to write an actual summary.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR ELA:Today I am out of the building for Professional Development activities and will be out of the building tomorrow for the same reasons. My substitute is one who frequently substitutes in my classroom, other Mavericks classrooms, and around the building. Students know their expectations for completing work in the classroom and displaying the same behavioral expectations expected even when I am present. ***Because the district's internet has been a bit finicky today, I will probably not have the assignments students are working on in class today and tomorrow posted on E-Campus until tomorrow. Please always have your child check e-Campus.
