Cool Spring Weekly Update
September 14, 2020
A Busy Start!
Whew! We made it through an exciting first week of school! It was great to see our students and teachers taking time to begin building classroom community, learn Google Meet etiquette and how to navigate the Schoology platform. Teachers and students were already underway with some creative learning activities as well! It was delightful to see so many smiles, students participating and also helping one another.
With the successes of the first week, we also had some technology related challenges with passwords, links and log-in issues, but these were fewer by the end of the week. We are continuing to assist families who do not have internet access. We recognize that navigating the virtual environment, coupled with the time online as LCPS implements the school day is also a challenge for everyone- students, teachers and parents. I want to give a special thank you to all of the parents, grandparents, caregivers, older siblings and others who have been helping our students this first week. This is a lift for you too and please know your support is so appreciated! As we head into the second week of school, we will continue to proceed slowly as we work to build routines, get students acclimated and know that we will have continued patience, flexibility and progress in 'this new normal of school'.

Technology Support
Since Schoology is new for all of us, teachers will work with students to help them get acclimated to the layout and how to navigate the platform. If students or families have a technology issue and need support, please first contact your student’s teacher. There are often many glitches that your teacher or other staff can assist in correcting and our response time will be much quicker. If these efforts do not resolve the matter, then it would be appropriate to contact the Technology Support Center at (571)252-2112 or email at DDI-TechnologySupportCenter@lcps.org
