Classroom Highlights

Third grade students enjoyed time reading around the room for flashlight Friday.

Mrs. Yakabi Yob and Miss Deitz’s 7th grade Social Studies class the students began work on The Great Wall of China Zipline STEM Challenge. Last week students learned about the Great Wall, now they must do their best to recreate it. Students must use the provided supplies to construct a model of the Great Wall with at least two guard towers with a functioning zipline between them. The zipline must be able to have an object travel from one tower to the other.

Art

Students will be experimenting with mixed media application that includes India ink, watercolors, and tempera paints.

Kindergarten is busy working on their Valentine's Day hearts inspired by artist Romero Britto! This project is a combination of collage with creative painting.

Mrs. Smith’s 8th grade math classes, we prepared for Chapter 6 (creating graphs from data and finding lines of best fit). To do so, we played coordinate system battleship to practice plotting and identifying coordinates and then we completed the “Can you find the slope?” board; where the students found the slope from an equations, tables and graphs!
Mrs. Smith’s 8th Grade Math classes are at it again! Making the connection between old school hip hop and student achievement. Students create and interpret scatter plots from data sets. Students made the conclusion that Biggie was right according to the given data…..Mo’ money means Mo’ problems!
1st grade celebrated the 80th day of school with an 80's themed dance party!
