News & Events for the Week of January 11
Happy New Year!
I cannot believe we are into our 2nd week of the new year already! Thank you all so much for the incredibly generous and thoughtful holiday gifts and notes. I am so thankful for each of you and the support you continue to give to your child and also to me. You are your child's first and most important teacher. The ways in which you have modeled the importance of kindness and their education will stay with them always. Thank you so very much. Here are some updates, reminders and sharing of going-on's in our class. Enjoy!

Reader's Workshop
Here is the link to one of my favorite non-fiction author's web sites.
Seymour Simon's books and website keep kids begging for more info. He also encourages kids to "write like an author" on Writing Wednesdays. His tips and advice for young writers are out of this world.
Check out this link for ideas on some great non-fiction books for your child at home too!
Writer's Workshop
We will be keeping wonder journals from now on. Wonderopolis provides prompts that will allow for quick bursts of writing, sparking curiosity with interesting wonderings posted daily. At home you might like to check out Wonderopolis with your child from time to time. It is a great site to encourage curiosity and is sure to ignite plenty of interesting conversations.
What are we Reading?
Maybe the question should be... What aren't we reading!? Here is a link to our class pic for the week- Be a Friend by Salina Yoon. With the Caldecott winner being announced this week, we are in store for plenty of amazing read-alouds PLUS the zany Mr.Popper continues to make us laugh out loud each day! Your children are book lovers!
