Yelm Community Schools
October 2019
Superintendent's Message
Our district, led by our board, continues to invest significant focus and energy on systems that will result in each student graduating with a positive plan for the future. Our Graduate Yelm! initiative is showing an early impact after one full year in existence.
As we reconcile student data, it appears Yelm High School will post an on-time graduation rate above 90%. Additionally our YHS and district on time and extended graduation rates will also grow. Community-wide, 57 adults came back to school and completed their diploma last year, and 28 adults comprise the fall cohort of High School 21+. SPSCC reported last week that half of our adult graduates are now enrolled in college.
Graduate Yelm! is a community commitment to engage in the promotion of graduation for each student. Businesses, faith-based organizations and civics groups continue to partner with us to build strategies to help families navigate the transition from public school to continuing education and work. New to 2019-20 is the Graduate Yelm! Personal Pledge. The Personal Pledge allows individuals to volunteer in schools, connect with community groups and support families in the creation of a network committed to the success of each student.
I encourage you all to go to our district website and click on the Personal Pledge link. Help people join the Graduate Yelm! initiative. We are making a difference.
