Pre-K Weekly Update!
O.C.Taylor Elementary September 16-20 2019
Notes!
Here we are in week #5! We have completed our study of our 5 Senses and will be starting our unit on Basic Needs. We will focus on plants and animals and what they need to survive. Our unit will conclude with a focus on comparing needs and wants.
In math we are continuing to sort items by their various attributes. Encourage your child to sort by color, shape, and size!
We will focus our phonics time on learning the characteristics of rhyming words. Remember, even “nonsense” words that rhyme are allowing your child to learn this phonetic skill! Encourage rhyming time with your child.
We make it a priority at O.C. Taylor to not have nightly homework. Instead, we prioritize our family time by encouraging reading with your loved ones. Start now to make it a daily habit of reading together with your child. Let your child see you reading and in doing so encourage a love of reading.
Help Please!
Our next unit of study is Construction and Community Helpers. For this unit our class is in need of some supplies, some of which you may have at home! We are asking parents to bring these listed items:
sandpaper
nuts, bolts, screws
empty toilet paper rolls
empty paper towel rolls
large pieces of cardboard
golf tees
large and small craft sticks
transportation or community helper stickers
(small, smooth) rocks
brown paper (grocery store) bags
If you happen to have any of these things at home we would love to be able to use these items for our activities! THANK YOU!
