Southside Elementary News
Week of 4/6/20
From Mrs. Allen
Happy Friday, Southside Families! We sure do miss you and your kids more than we can even express. Our teachers have been working extensively to make sure that you and your child are communicated with and that you have multiple resources at your fingertips.
Please expect phone calls weekly from teachers to touch base! We wish we could see you all face-to-face but until we are able to do that, we will do everything we can to bridge the gap and make this as easy of a transition as possible. Please know that we are here for you and your kids. If you have any questions or need any support, please do not hesitate to reach out!
Communication
-We encourage you and your child to talk to your teacher once a week so we can keep in touch with you. If you are not able to do so, or have not been contacted about a time, please let me know how we can help you.
-This can be through FaceTime, Zoom, personal phone calls, Google Duo (an app for androids to connect to FaceTime), or any other method best for you! Just let your teacher know!
AMI Info
Parents will keep all AMI work, use this to discuss with your teacher when they call! You will not turn in the work to the teacher until further notice. I am putting ours in the homework folder on the table :).
Beginning Monday, April 6, 2020, we are moving to PBS AMI work. This is available through the PBS channel, website, and RUKO app; or the Engage Arkansas PBS app
The links for the PBS week 2 AMI Guides for each grade group are below: You will use these as a guide to lead you through the lessons. You can document any questions or concerns to discuss with your teachers.
If you need a paper copy of the PBS AMI Guides, they will be available at any of the lunch sites as well as in a tub by the front door of the school.
If you have ANY questions or concerns because you do not have access; please contact your teacher and just READ and do math problems with your kids...they just need your continued support with engaging in thinking skills!!!
Meals- Cabot Kids' Cafe
We understand that school meals are crucial to the health and well-being of our students. That is why our district is dedicated to providing hot meals to all our students during this closure.
Cabot Public Schools is offering a free drive-through meal program from March 30 – April 17. The Cabot Kids’ Café will be available Monday through Friday, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at five different school locations.
Central Elementary
Magness Creek Elementary
Ward Central Elementary
Cabot Middle School South
Cabot Junior High North
A to-go lunch as well as breakfast for the next day will be provided. Students can pick up a meal at any of these drive-through locations. They do not have to attend school at that location.
Cabot Kids’ Café is for students enrolled at Cabot Public Schools. Originally, the USDA required students to be present in order to receive a meal. That has since been waived. Students do not have to be present now to receive a meal. However, we are only allowed to serve student meals at this time.
For health and safety reasons, we are asking patrons to remain in their cars as our staff members distribute the meals. Signs will be posted leading you to form a line in the bus lanes near the cafeteria entrance.
Zoom Meetings
Weekly class zooms will begin (or continue) this week! We try to keep these consistent for you! Please contact your teacher for times and links if you need them!
ZOOM Expectation PDF is below. Please review these with your child before zooming. School appropriate dress is expected.
