Question: How will specials schedules change when students return to TCES?

SMCPS 1:1 Devices

SMCPS has received the resources to ensure that each child will have his/her own device (iPad, K-2; laptop, 2-5). Each student will have a device issued to them similar to the way textbooks are assigned.

Each TCES teacher will be in communication to inform families whether students will need to transport their SMCPS-issued devices to and from school. For students currently using personal devices, teachers may offer the option for students to store SMCPS-issued devices in the classroom.

If you would like to have your student's device checked out prior to their return-to-school date, please contact Suzanne VerHaagh in our main office to schedule a device pick-up time.

Student Arrival and Dismissal

Bus Transportation

  • In accordance with CDC recommendations, the SMCPS Transportation Department is working with its bus contractors to ensure that there is only one child assigned per seat (same household may sit together).

  • All students will be required to wear a mask while on the school bus.

  • Bus routes and times can be found by selecting SMCPS Elocator on the SMCPS Transportation Bus Stop & School Locator Page.

  • Track the real-time location of your child’s bus through the “Here Comes the Bus” app or at herecomesthebus.com (school code 86563).

  • Please note: There will be no bus passes provided this year for students. Students must ride their assigned bus home.

Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up

We appreciate your patience, grace, and smiles as we implement a new everyday car rider procedure this school year.

All adults transporting children must remain in their vehicles. Please arrive
on-time as our parking and space for vehicles is very limited.

  • Staff members will direct students from their cars beginning at 8:45am

  • Students will enter the school and walk to their classrooms (or cafeteria if they are having breakfast)

Health and Safety Corner

Safe Student Return Plan - for our Families

We will teach, promote, and foster appropriate health and hygiene practices on mask-wearing, social distancing, and frequent handwashing. All of these practices align with our revised PBIS Matrix. We all work together to keep everyone safe.

Big picture

PBIS School-Wide Behavior Matrix

Our PBIS Team has revised our TCES School-Wide Behavior Matrix to include our new Safety Expectations. Ask your child how many expectations they recall from last year. Review the new safety expectations (in red) prior to your child's return date. Our teachers and staff will be reviewing, teaching, and providing opportunities for students to practice these expectations.
