Room 11 on the Move
A great week back
I am so thankful to be back with your students. We had a fantastic five days together, highlighted by completing our Reading/ English Language Arts portion of the Oklahoma State tests. We also enjoyed several presentations as your students led us into Oklahoma's past with their guided inquiry projects. They clearly did a great job researching because their presentations were outstanding. I learned a lot just listening to them. Enjoy the pictures of your students as teachers.
Math State Tests on Tuesday and Wednesday
We will complete the mathematics portion of the Oklahoma State Tests on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Please make sure your children get plenty of sleep the nights before and enjoy a nutritious breakfast each morning. Again, attendance is critical, so please make every effort to have your child at school on time, rescheduling any appointments that would interfere with testing. Monday will be an important day, as well, because we'll be doing a lot of review work that will help your child do his/her best on the tests.
New School Hours Start Monday
School will begin at 7:40 and end at 3:10 for the remainder of the school year. The first bell will ring at 7:30, allowing children 10 minutes to get settled before the day starts. Please also note that the last day of school has shifted as well. The last day of school is now Thursday, May 31.
Art Festival Tuesday
This year's theme is the city of Norman, and every canvas reflects part of our great city. Our class voted to paint the splash pad at Andrews Park. Our guest artist and your students created this beautiful geometric painting inspired by the splash pad. Come join us Tuesday night to bid on it! The live auction will begin at 6:20. Come early for a $5 dinner featuring food from local restaurants and to join in the fun at the silent auction, where our class project awaits.
Our academics this week
We will get back to a more-regular schedule this week, although we'll still have to work things around those state math tests. Check out the spelling a vocabulary words below.
The Academic Rundown
- In reading and ELA, we'll use expository text to compare and contrast.
- In ELA, we'll focus on main and helping verbs.

- In social studies, we'll finish up guided inquiry reports.
