Hammond's Next Generation Ministry
WDA @ DePauw
Update on Young Life Leaders:
Thank you so much for your partnership in this ministry! We appreciate your prayers and financial support that enables us to be here working with DePauw students.
We are looking forward to a fruitful semester! We have a group of DePauw student leaders trained and ready to start reaching out to high school students to share the love of Christ with them. As many of you know, we have partnered with Young Life in order to reach high school students. This is a win win!! The high school students have a chance to know Christ, and the college students gain ministry experience!! This is a great opportunity for our college students to grow as they begin to use their ministry skills and discover their gifts and how they can be used in the body of Christ to further Gods Kingdom.
Our leaders have already begun to develop relationships with high school students by going to high school lunches and sporting events. Richard, one of our leaders, started talking about spiritual things with the high school guys at the lunch table, two of them were self proclaimed Wiccans (witch craft). I was sad to hear this, this is where our own kids go to school! We are praying for the Holy Spirit to work in a mighty way!
Our goal is to begin a Young Life Club on February 25th. Young Life Club will be a fun event put on by college students for high school students. There will be music, games, skits, and also a message about Jesus and salvation at each Club.
YL Leaders & Committee Christmas Party
Please pray with us for this event!! Pray that high school students come!! We are praying for non-Christians / non-churched kids to come. We would like to reach those who are not already being reached in our community.
Greg & I are also organizing the Upward Basketball camp coming up in March. Please pray with us that God will provide all the resources (manpower) that we need and good weather (no snow, safe roads). We are expecting around 90 children. What a great opportunity to share the gospel with them! Many of them
are from unchurched homes.
I would appreciate continued prayers for my Dad, that he would draw near to the Lord during this time.
May the Lord continue to bless & guide your steps!
For the Kingdom,
Greg & Shannon Hammond
