Falcon's Nest
September 2018
Principal's Corner by Jennifer Updike
Welcome Back!!!
It is so good to see all of our young falcon’s smiling faces again!! They are the reason we are here and why we continue to reflect and refine our instructional practices. We are proud of the positive momentum of this building; but we are never satisfied. I thought this would be a great opportunity to share some of the fun, innovative, student-centered ideas we are embracing this school year!
Standards Based Grading-
Wild Card
Many of our teachers this summer took the time to be a part of a book study on how to engage, uplift and challenge our students on a daily basis. We want our students to see learning as an opportunity not a chore. Check out the book or some of room transformations already happening in our building!

I hope your child has come home telling you about our new library time that incorporates our brand new makerspace. A makerspace is a place learn by being creative and hands on. Our makerspace includes a reading nook, technology station, problem solvers station, sensory spot, art station, young builders station and nature station. All of these stations and supplies have been generously donated by several local companies and families! Check out this quick video that gives a quick glimpse into the first few days. If you are interested we meet the last Thursday of every month at 4:00 in the library. Or check out our CMES PTO page for ways you can donate items. Check out our Makerspace in action! Kudos to Mrs. Ford for her hard work in making this vision a reality. Kids are absolutely loving it.
