### December 11, 2015

Mr. Smarty Pants came to school Wednesday afternoon and gave an assembly titled 'The Mouse Trap Medicine Show.' The PTO sponsored this assembly for the students. The students were entertained by Mr. Smarty Pants and his wife by building five simple machines and an amazing mousetrap out of balloons. He used balloons to build a lever, wheel, pulley, inclined plane, and a screw. He talked about potential energy and kinetic energy. The program was fun and informational and the kids loved it! Below are a few pictures from the assembly.

## Literacy

We started Unit 4 in Superkids. This week's lesson focused on silent letters in words, the prefix 'un', and some dictionary skills. Next week we are taking a week off from Superkids to research information about different countries. The spelling list for the first week in January will go home on December 18th.

Our Super magazine this time is titled Go, Go, Go! and talks about unexpected things that move in very interesting ways.

Just a reminder...TumbleBooks is a program available to us through the Woodridge Public Library. It will be available until at least March. Your student can find a link for this on our Goodrich home page under Resources-Students or by clicking the link below. If it prompts you for a logon use:

usename: woodridgepl

Enjoy reading the books, playing the games, and having fun!

## AR Winners

Due to the assembly on Wednesday, AR prizes were not given out. Prizes will return next Wednesday.

## Star Student

Kendall was our Star Student this week. We learned that Kendall wants to be a Singer and a Model when she grows up. Kendall LOVES to read, one of her favorite types of books are graphic novels. When Kendall was four, she won a fishing derby. She has traveled to several places including a cruise to the Bahamas. Her favorite movie is 'Elf'. Kendall is a star because she likes to follow the golden rule by treating others the way she wants to be treated. Awesome presentation Kendall!! Our next Star Student is Liam.
