This Friday, May 13th, from 4:30-7:30 p.m., we will be hosting a celebratory picnic for Compass students and families to recognize our graduating seniors and their accomplishments, commemorate the close of our inaugural year, and to engage in fellowship with our Compass community. There will be food, fun, and prizes, so we are hoping to see everyone there! Please help us plan appropriately by letting us know you're coming: RSVP here by May 9th, even if you will not be able to attend.

COLLEGE & CAREER SPEAKER SERIES

If your student is interested in biology or scientific research, encourage them to sign up for this week's career speaker. We are also excited to offer opportunities for students to talk with college reps from two different schools this week! The more students talk with college representatives, the more they will learn about what they are and aren't looking for in a school. Encourage them to attend! REGISTER HERE FOR ANY OF THE SPEAKERS THIS WEEK.

  • Wednesday (5/11), 10:30-11:10 am: Mark Swanson, Research Biologist
  • Wednesday (5/11), 11:15-11:55 am: Kate McCarthy, Illinois State University
  • Wednesday (5/11), 1:00-1:40 pm: Matt Swanson, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

JOB SHADOWING OPPORTUNITIES IN ST. CHARLES - CONTINUING THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER!

Many Compass Academy students are actively engaged in shadowing in this program, and others have already completed their experience. If your student hasn't taken advantage of this opportunity yet, encourage them to do so. In the city's career pathway job shadow program, Compass students can shadow people in many career fields, including engineering, communications, accounting, firefighting, law enforcement, construction, and vehicle maintenance. THE CITY HAS EXTENDED THIS PROGRAM SO THAT STUDENTS CAN PARTICIPATE DURING THE SUMMER, an opportunity to be exposed to various careers of interest while also earning credit at Compass!

Interested students should complete the Registration Form and return it to Ms. Ohlson at Compass Academy.
