SKELETON SYSTEM
There are 206 bones in the body. You have cartilage on your nose and in your ears. Another name for the back bone is called the spine. Babies have 305 bones. There is marrow inside bones. Some bones are flat or long.Blood vessels and other parts help keep the the body going. The muscle of the body must move the bone. Skull protects the brain.
muscular system
There are more than 3 times as many muscles in your body as bones-630. Muscles work in only two ways. They get shorter or long. When muscles that hook to the bone get shorter they pull on the bone and cause them to move. Your heart keeps beating from the work of it's muscles. The diaphragm muscle is under your lungs and helps you breath. Muscles protect your bones and organs.
Hinge joints
The elbows and knees are hinge joints. They work just like the hinges on a door.
Bone Marrow
Bone marrow is in the center of the bone. It is a dark, soft material that makes blood cells and stores fat..
Ball and Socket joint
The hip is a ball and socket joint. It moves like a joystick on a computer.
