Health & Safety Update
As we have done throughout the pandemic, we continue to evaluate what response is most appropriate for our school district at this time. Below are three important updates to our district operations that will begin on February 14, 2022. While the specific actions are listed here succinctly, you may choose to watch the video below for greater insight into the decisions we have made to continue reaching our goals and mission as a school district. As always, thank you for your incredible support!

MASD Health & Safety Update - 2/3/22
Masks
We will move to a "masks optional" environment for all stakeholders within all district buildings and programs on February 14, 2022. Individuals riding district transportation must continue to wear masks per federal guidelines until further notice.
Exposure to COVID-19 Cases
The only circumstances that we will require staff and students to quarantine due to exposure to a COVID positive individual are when:
- the exposed individual becomes symptomatic or;
- the exposed individual is living with a COVID positive household member AND is not vaccinated.
The current quarantine period is 5 days from the last exposure to the positive individual.
We will no longer be tracking or requiring quarantine for potential exposures occurring within the school building or programs. We will continue to track overall positive cases in each building and that data will remain available for reference on our website.
Symptoms-based Support
The best way to support continued health in our schools is to remain home if you experience symptoms of illness. To reflect the importance of this, for the remainder of the school year, we will adjust our doctor's note policy. Rather than requiring a doctor's note after 3 consecutive days of absence, we will not require a doctor's note until a student is absent 6 or more days consecutively. This will allow students to remain absent during required quarantine and isolation periods without making a visit to the doctor a necessity.
Families should stay in regular communication with their school office for all student absences, whether related to a positive test result or if your child is simply exhibiting symptoms.
