As we wind down the first marking period, I do so with the utmost respect for the staff here at Holly Academy. When an administrator begins in a new school the learning curve is always a steep one. I fully expected to have to hit the ground running and learn as I go. I have devoted much of the past marking period to establishing relationships with staff, students, and parents. I believe that to be successful in my role this relationship building will be the catalyst for success in this and future years. Through my interactions with staff, I have been blown away by the adherence to excellence by all. I have witnessed high expectations as the norm, in turn, our Huskies step up to the plate academically and behaviorally. The culture here at HA is the catalyst for securing our place as an academic leader in Southeast Michigan. I am proud to be a Husky!

Dismissal Etiquette

Our staff works very hard to make the dismissal process run as smoothly as possible. Please refrain from parking in the gravel driveway just east of Holly Academy, on Academy Road. That gravel driveway is private property and we would like to remain good neighbors with the current owners. Also, the gravel parking lot on the east side of the building is for teachers only. Parents may not park in that lot to avoid the dismissal lanes. Let's be models of Husky Pride! Thank you for your cooperation!

Happy Halloween Monday

Students can wear a Halloween theme shirt on Monday, October 31st with uniform bottoms. (No gore, weapons, or overly scary shirts).

Happy Halloween weekend! School is in full swing now and the students are finishing up the 1st marking period. It is hard to believe that we are a quarter of the way done with the school year. The staff has continued to work on the curriculum and these are the areas that were focused on this week:

  1. We completed our math curriculum professional development on October 25th. Lots of new resources were provided to the teachers and they had an opportunity to network with one another.

  2. Tina Craven and the Intervention Team conducted data drops for all grade levels. These are another reason Holly Academy is special. I was impressed to see the amount of dedication that was given to each and every student in our school. Every student's NWEA data was evaluated and staff worked on making interventions and strategies to assist every student in their academic journey.

Art to Remember

Hi families and friends,

Earlier this month most of our Huskies created artwork that was sent to Art to Remember. Holly Academy PTO is participating in a creative fundraiser with Art to Remember that allows you to purchase keepsake products customized with your child's art. There are over 60 products and many are less than $15. These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Click on the link below and enter the online order code shown on your child's order form or search for your child's artwork. Then, have fun shopping!
