Principal's Corner

Good Afternoon LS-H Middle/High School Families,

The 2020-2021 school year is fast approaching and I can't emphasize enough how excited we are to welcome students back to LS-H Middle/High School! On Monday, August 17, the Le Sueur-Henderson School Board approved LS-H Middle/High School to begin the school year in the Hybrid Learning Scenario. Please review the information below and feel welcome to contact us should you have any questions. We're thrilled to welcome our students back to school with GIANT PRIDE.

Go Giants!

Virtual Open House

On September 2nd, our school will be posting our Virtual Open House presentations on the LS-H Middle/High School website. These videos will highlight important aspects of our Return-To-Learn plan, health and safety procedures for the 2020-2021 school year, and important components of our student/parent handbook.

MS/HS teachers will be available via Zoom from 4:00-8:00 PM to meet with parents and students to discuss their classes and answer any questions you may have about their courses or grade level. Zoom links and further information will be provided prior to Sept. 2nd.

1:1 Device Distribution

LS-H Middle/High School is continuing its 1:1 device learning environment for the 2020-2021 school year. All students will receive their device and charger at our device distribution event on Sept. 2nd from 4:00-8:00 PM. Please complete the following steps to facilitate a smooth distribution of devices for the 2020-2021 school year:

  1. Review the Student Device Handbook.
  2. Determine if an insurance plan is the right choice for your family.
  3. Complete the 2020-2021 Mobile Student Device Agreement Form.

We look forward to greeting your family on Sept. 2nd when you arrive to pick up your child(ren)'s device!

More information about device distribution procedures will be communicated soon.

LS-H High School Parking Permit Update

LS-H Schools has made the decision to waive the requirement for students to purchase a permit to park on school grounds during the 2020-2021 school year. Parking permit fees will resume at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year.

LS-H Middle/High School Hybrid Schedule

All LS-H students in grades 6-12 have been assigned to our Blue, Gold or Distance Learning hybrid groups. Students in the Blue and Gold groups will attend school in-person on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Fridays will be a Distance Learning day for all students.

Each family can check which group their child(ren) have been assigned to by viewing their child's schedule on Campus Portal. Select any calendar day between Sept. 8 and Dec. 22 on Campus Portal to determine if your child has been assigned to attend school virtually or in-person that day. The image below demonstrates what the "Virtual" indicator looks like on Infinite Campus.

Students will attend school virtually on any day that the "Virtual" indicator is present on their school calendar in Infinite Campus. Students will attend school in-person on any day that the "Virtual" indicator is not present.

Due to classroom capacity limits, LS-H Middle/High School will not be able to accomodate changes to hybrid group assignments unless extenuating circumstances exist.

Please refer to the following document to assist with logging into and updating information on Campus Portal. The "forgot username" and "forgot password" features on our district's Campus Portal can also be used if you are having difficulty logging in. Further support can be found by contacting the LS-H Middle/High School Office at (507) 665-5800 or by sending an email to tech@isd2397.org.

Transportation

The Le Sueur-Henderson Bus Company is working diligently to finalize our bus routes for the 2020-2021 school year. If your child intends to utilize bus transportation, it is essential that a bus transportation form has been submitted. Transportation forms can be found on the Fall 2020 page of our district's website. The deadline to submit this form was August 7th. Please contact Kris Stivers (kstivers@isd2397.org) if you have not yet submitted this form and intend to ride the bus.

Google Classroom

All LS-H MS/HS teachers and students will be using Google Classroom as their learning management system during the 2020-2021 school year. Parents will have the ability to receive one daily or weekly email that includes information about each of their child's classes. Additional information will be provided about this Google Classroom feature as we approach our first day of school.

6th Grade Band and Choir

6th grade parents and students will notice that all students have choir selected on their daily schedule. Due to Distance Learning last Spring, we were unable to determine who was interested in participating in 6th grade band and instrument testing was not completed. Ms. Lowe, LS-H Band Director, will be working with students and families during the first few weeks of school to introduce them to band and determine which instrument students would like to play. Schedule changes will be made by the end of September when instrument testing has been completed.
