Welcome Back to the 2022/ 2023 School Year
I am so excited to welcome everyone back to school. I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are ready for a fabulous new year. The staff comes back to school tomorrow and will be busy setting up classrooms and attending trainings to make sure we have everything we need for when students arrive on Thursday.
Wednesday Night is open house. We invite you and your families to come and meet your teachers, see your classrooms, and explore the school. Students will be invited to participate in a scavenger hunt around the school and Otter Pops will be provided by the PTA. Class lists will be posted at 5:00 with doors opening at 5:30.

Morning Procedures
8:30 - Students are to arrive at school no earlier than 8:30 unless they are part of the YMCA and are being actively supervised. Please do not drop your child off before 8:30. The playground is closed before school.
8:30 - The bell rings and all students enter the school and go directly to the cafeteria to be supervised by the cafeteria staff.
8:40 - The bell rings and students may leave the cafeteria to line up in the hallway outside of their classroom. YMCA students are dismissed to hallways.
8:50 - The bell rings and students are invited into classrooms to get started for the day.
9:00 - The Tardy Bell rings. Students not in class by 9:00 are considered tardy. Please get to school prior to 9:00 so your child has enough time to get their gear off, and be prepared to start learning.
9:05 - Announcements begin, students arriving late must be checked in the office. Teachers record attendance in Q/Zangle
9:15 - The front doors are locked, students must ring the bell to enter. Parents need to sign students in.
No Breakfast
At this time we do not have a cafeteria manager. Students will be able to get free bag lunches, but breakfast service has been suspended until a cafeteria manager can be found. If you are interested in applying for the position please apply at https://www.asdk12.org/Page/2390
School Lunches
Since we do not have a cafeteria manager students will be provided with a bag lunch. All students can have one free of charge. Specific allergy meals will not be available.
When a cafeteria manger is hired we will be able to provide hot meals again. At that point students will be charged for lunch. Please apply for free or reduced lunch now. You can find the application here. Lunch Application
Recess
Make sure to label your child's outside gear. Many jackets look the same.
Transportation
Due to the bus driver shortages bus stops and routes have been changed. Please log on to Parent Connect to see what bus route and stop your child has been assigned to. Bus stops may be further away from your home.
The current rotation schedule has our school starting with bussing. We will have three weeks with bussing and six weeks without bussing. We are looking for ways to help families get their children to and from school during the weeks we do not have bussing. If transportation during our off weeks will be an issue for you please stop by the transportation table at open house to fill out a survey regarding your needs.
Due to limited transportation we anticipate longer pick up lines. Please consider having your kids walk if you live within a mile of the school.
Tudor Exit/Dismissal Procedures
** Students needing to be picked up early will need to be picked up before 3:15.
When picking up children please note the following procedures:
If you are using the drive through pick-up lane:
Parents are to pull up on the right to the far end of the drive through loop.
Parents will need to place a sign in their car with their child’s name to make loading of students more efficient.
Students will only be loaded at the designated loading zones.
If your child is not at the loading area in a timely manner, parents may be asked to make a second pass.
If your child is unable to get into the vehicle and buckle themselves in, please park and pick up your child.
Please watch for people crossing at the designated crosswalk
If you are walking to meet your child/children:
Please meet them by the concrete benches or the flagpole.
Please do not wait in front of the doors.
Please do not bring pets onto school grounds.
Please watch younger children and remind all children of safety rules.
If you are parking and getting out of your car to meet your child/children:
Please park in a designated parking spot.
Please do not block cars that are parked in designated spots.
When crossing the parent drive through lanes, please make sure to use the designated crosswalk.
Make a plan to meet your children by the flagpole.
Mrs. Somerville will start calling students for parent pick-up via radio starting at 3:25. Students are to remain with their teacher until their name is called or Mrs. Sommerville has released students to the YMCA or afterschool program. Walkers will be released when the bell rings at 3:30PM.
You need to park in the lot and get out of your car to get your children or wait in line until the line moves.
