District Title I Newsletter

Winter edition January 2023

Happy New Year!

We hope you all had a wonderful break and holiday!

We are excited to start the second half of the school year!

Parent conferences

Did you know that you can always request a conference with your child's teacher? All of our Title I schools want our families to be involved and educated about their child's academic processes. If you have questions or concerns you can always reach out to your child's teacher and request a conference. They can meet with you via google meet, through a phone call or in person. We want to make parental involvement convenient to your schedule.

What does it mean when you say VOLUNTEER???

Volunteering can be a confusing term and most people think I don't have time for that. We want to make it easy for you! You can volunteer without set time limits and set days! We just want your involvement. You can reach out to your schools Parent Involvement Coordinator (PIC) and they can help navigate the process. If you can't come into the school to help we can send things home. If you only have 20 minutes we can still use you. If you are only interested in volunteering for the book fair or the apex run that's great! We can work around your schedule and your interests! Reach out to the PIC (Parent Involvement Coordinator) at your school to find out how you can be a part of our family engagement program! It's a fun group!

What's coming up at our schools?

The next half of the year will be filled with FAST (Family and Student Teams) meetings. These meetings may be called by a different name at your school but they are valuable meetings where your child's academic progress will be discussed. Please try to attend these meetings. If you are at the Middle Schools the PIC will be sending home packets filled with information regarding you child's test scores and levels. They will text, put it in a newsletter and on the website to let you know they have been sent home with your child.

Spring PAC (Parent Advisory Council) meetings- Everyone is invited to attend these meetings and give input into our Title I programs budget, policy, and spring survey results.

Spring Survey-PLEASE fill out our spring survey! We will send those out in March. While they are lengthy, we really appreciate your input into our program. We use the survey to make changes and to better Title I.

We can help!

Checkout our websites for resources and ways we can help you and your child. We also have knowledge about community resources and our Parent Involvement rooms are packed with things from books to games to pamphlets.
