Please consider donating the items on the list or cash for the chapel offering. We will use the cash to buy what we need to complete kits. Here is a link to the site so you can see what is needed and other details. Here is the link: Lutheran World Relief.
SGO Credits Almost Gone for 2017!
Our final date to request our funds for the SGO scholarships is just prior to March 15th. Prayerfully the balance we need will be donated. I will be putting in the request for funds (whatever is in the account at the time) prior to that date and if there is not enough, figure out how to allocate what we do have.
If you do not know what an SGO is, it is a scholarship fund solely dependent on individuals, businesses and farmers who donate to the fund and direct it to the school(s) of their choice. Donors receive a 50% Indiana state income tax credit and if the donation is larger than your tax in a given year, you can roll it over for up to 9 years. This year the tax credits were increased from $9 million to $12.5 million.
There are so many way to give. Make sure you take advantage of your opportunity to receive not only a tax credit but a great feeling that your gift helps students continue to receive a Christian education.
Please tell others about this great opportunity and consider giving yourself. Go to www.lutheransgo,org to find out more and donate to SJE.
SJE Endowment
The SJE endowment fund has been around for some time. It is finally at a point that the school can begin using it. That means more now than ever before. contributions made to this fund, make a difference. Also, at the beginning of this school year, the Lutheran Foundation ties grant funds the school receives to donations made to our endowment. In other words, every dollar donated to the SJE endowment is, one, matched into our endowment and, second is a dollar available for the school via the day school grant. In the past that amount has averaged $23,000 each school year. The funds were used for technology upgrades as well as any other classroom or school needs.
This grant, and the endowment fund have become very valuable to the school. So, please consider giving to our endowment fund so that the school has money to apply for to be used in an upcoming school year and long term from our endowment fund. If you have any questions about the endowment, please contact Axel Gruen in the school office at 260-639-0123 or email to principal@stjohn-emmanuel.com.
