Third annual experimental film festival

Congratulations to Case teacher Tommy Whalen and his Fundamentals of New Media students for their exciting, innovative and original first forays into the world of video. For the third consecutive year, Case classes had an open invitation to view these student film debuts. This year, we transitioned to the auditorium to accommodate the many students and teachers who bear witness to these innovations. My continued gratitude for providing students with opportunities that celebrate risk-taking.

Term I Report Cards

Term I report cards will be published electronically via the Aspen X2 family/student portal at the close of the school day on Thursday, November 9. Please contact your student's teacher directly with specific questions.

No School Friday, November 10 for students

Although school will not be in session for students on Friday, November 10, all teachers in Swansea Public Schools will be part of our second professional in-service of the year. The high school will host more than 40 hour-long PD offerings in four hour-long blocks. Sessions will be led by Swansea teachers and administrators with many sessions devoted to social-emotional learning as well as technology infusion.

New Swansea Public Schools website

Check out our new website via www.swanseaschools.org. We will be refining the Joseph Case High School site over the next month. Among the new features is the high school's live Twitter feed. We are grateful to the district's Technology Director Randi Arruda for this upgrade!

SPIRIT WEEK KICK-OFF; ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE

Wednesday, November 8 - Wednesday, November 15

Each class will have its own food bins in the library. All proceeds from this food drive will go directly to the St. Anne’s Food Pantry. For every item donated, your class will receive 1 point towards your Spirit Week total. Additionally, this year there will be a creative element. Once the food drive is concluded, class officers will spend the bubble creating a sculpture using exclusively the food boxes and cans that were donated. Judges will then rank the class sculptures. First place receives 400 points, second place receives 300 points, third place receives 200 points and fourth place receives 100 points. All points are awarded to your class' Spirit Week total.

Marching Band to defend national title

Good luck to the Case High Marching Band this weekend as these talented musicians defend their national title at the USBands Group 1 Open National Championships, heldat MetLife Stadium in Rutherford, NJ.

In closing: Veteran's Day

Please take a moment this weekend to remember of those Americans, especially Case High graduates, who have defended our nation. Freedom is something we must continually be mindful or and never take for granted. Above are reminders of two tribute walls that are centrally located in the main foyer of Joseph Case High School.

In gratitude to all who serve,

Brian
