Howler Hub
Vol. 3 Edition 1
A message from Mrs. Hetzler-Nettles!
I hope this finds you safe and well! We are excited to see all of our students back on campus or via MySchool Online on August 24th! This year is presenting a lot of challenges, but I want you to know that we can conquer anything if we all work together as a Coyote family! It is important to remember our mission as we head back into this school year - we Have a growth mindset, Own our education, Work as a community, and Lead responsibly.
You will notice some newly added expectations for students, staff, and families added to our mission outlined below. These expectations will be posted throughout our campus this year. We want to be very clear and transparent as we head into the 20-21 school year. Some things are going to look, feel and be different, but we are truly thrilled to get to be back together with all of you!
I ask that you all please take some time to read this entire Howler Hub. We have received questions surrounding many of these topics over the past few weeks, and have tried to address all of them here for you.
You can expect another Howler Hub as we move closer to the start of the school year, which will provide important first day information, and more updated information regarding reopening.
As we head into the school year, please know that we consider ourselves to be on the same team as you - we are one Coyote Nation! We are here to answer your questions, and will do all we can to get you answers you seek. Please know that there is a lot of behind the scenes work going on to plan for our reopening! Upon our return, it is going to require everyone to work as a community. We know that through a strong partnership with you, we are capable of overcoming anything!
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Mask Requirement
Our school district requires that all students, staff, and visitors wear masks or face coverings when on a school campus or other school district property in the fall. In this video, Superintendent Browning explains the reasoning behind the decision.
The proposed rule describes what qualifies as a mask or face covering and under what circumstances the mask can be removed. It also describes how the school district will make accommodations for students or staff members who have a medical condition that would prevent them from wearing a mask or face covering.

Walking in the Hallways
STAY TO YOUR RIGHT, ALWAYS!
Walking in the hallways will look different at CCHS this year. All hallways and stairwells are right lane only directions. What does this mean? It's like driving a car - no matter where you are walking, you are always in the RIGHT lane. You will be expected to stay to the right side of the hallway and stairwell.6FT SOCIAL DISTANCING, ALWAYS!
When walking anywhere on campus, the expectation is that you maintain 6ft of social distancing from everyone. We have a 5 minute passing period to allow for more social distancing, and there are no limits on passes for restroom use. Headed to your class and you didn't get to stop and use the restroom? No worries - go to your class, and your teacher will write you a pass!
* Please see the flyer for our other HOWL expectations.
Classroom Expectations!
Working as a Community to keep things Clean!
Keeping your area and materials clean in class will be the job of everyone. The expectation will be that you clean your personal area & materials used after each class. Your teacher will have a set procedure for this at the end of the class period, and will have a cleaning station with materials to use for cleaning purposes.
Assigned Seats in Every Class!
Your teachers will be assigning you a seat in every classroom. The expectation is that you sit in that assigned seat every day. You are not permitted to change your seat.
Mask Breaks
Teachers will incorporate mask breaks for students. A student may raise their hand and request a break. The teacher will permit the student to step into the empty hallway, within sight of the teacher through the window, and remove their masks for a minute or two.
* Please see the flyer for our other HOWL expectations.
Cafeteria Expectations
Seating:
Students will be permitted to eat inside the cafeteria, outside the cafeteria, out in the courtyard, or in the gym. Some teachers might have their rooms open for lunch tutoring, if they do, you will have an assigned seat in their classroom. Seats will be marked in the cafeteria & outside cafeteria tables to denote table capacity. If you choose to eat in the courtyard or the gym, the expectation is that you maintain 6ft of social distancing, and are seated when eating.
All students will be required to be seated if eating. No one is permitted to be standing up, or walking when eating their food or snacks.
Movement in Cafeteria or other spaces:
When you are moving, walking or standing anywhere during lunch, you must have your mask on.
* Please see the flyer for our other HOWL expectations.
Dismissal at End of Day!
We are expanding our exit areas for buses, and we are adding a second car loop line in our back student parking lot. Our car loop areas will be set up by alphabet - first letter of student last name. A-K will pick up/drop off in the front loop, and L-Z will pick up/drop off in the back of the student parking lot.
Athletics & PE
There will be no dressing out in PE for the entire 1st semester. If you have PE on your schedule you will need to come to school dressed to participate in PE. There will be no lockers sold for PE. Locker rooms will only be utilized to store backpacks while students are participating in PE.
