Miscellaneous Info

  • Please make sure that your child is dressed for colder weather during recess. We will go outside if the windchill is 38 degrees or higher. If windchill is 37 degrees or lower, we will have indoor recess.
  • If your child would like to bring his or her own headphones to use with the computers, that is perfectly fine. However, they will be responsible for them.

Math

This week we will be reviewing graphing and analyzing data, but the data will include decimals and fractions. We covered graphing in Cluster 1, but with whole numbers. This week it will give the students an opportunity to practice working with decimals again, and should serve as a review time for working with fractions.

Writing

This week in writing we will start our persuasive unit. The students will be learning the characteristics of persuasive writing. The students will be learning how to write strong persuasive letters.

Science

This week we finish up our first Earth and Space unit with a CBA on Wednesday. On Friday, we will start the second Earth and Space unit with the water cycle.

Reading

This week in Reading we will be discussing and viewing different types of Media Literacy. Media literacy includes Newspaper, Magazines, Advertisements, Websites, and other forms of technology that provide information. We will also analyze different techniques that are used in Media Literacy such as images, text, music, video, and interviews.


HOMEWORK: Read "The Zoo" (passed out in class on Monday) and use your coding strategy to track your thinking as you read. Then, answer the questions on the back. Due Friday!

Social Studies

This week in Social Studies we will discuss The Louisiana Purchase and its significance.We will also discuss the journey of Lewis and Clark.
