Memorial Day break
As the end of the school year gets closer, I have been mentioning to students and staff that it's important to make the days count instead of counting the days. There are lots of things to learn, papers to write, books to read, projects to complete, and tests to take. We also have a four-day weekend coming up, a time for all of us to recharge and refresh for the end of the school year. Next week we are recognizing our troops as it is also Jeans for Troops week. Staff can donate $5 to wear jeans with all donations going to support our troops. If you'd like to join us in our support, feel free to send donations in to the office.

Katie's Krops volunteers needed next Thursday
Due to a conflict with Troybilt, we have had to change the date of our groundbreaking for Katie's Krops to Thursday, May 21st at 4:00. Katie's Krops is an organization that grows crops during the summer months. These crops are then given to local food pantries. This is an excellent activity if you are interested in finding a way to give back to our community. For more information, you can go to this link or watch this video. If you are able to volunteer, please contact me.

Final Wednesday assembly
This week, we had our final Wednesday morning assembly of the year. Here is a link, in case you are interested. There is a wonderful story I shared with the students that I believe had a great impact on the students as they clapped after I was done reading it to them. If you are interested in the other assembly presentations for the year, you can find them on my webpage here.

I look forward to offering this opportunity again next year.

7th grade families needed
It is the tradition in Merton that 7th grade families host the 8th grade graduation reception following the ceremony. Each family is to provide two dozen bars or cookies for the occasion. If you are interested and able to chair the event, please don't hesitate to contact the office.
Labels for Education
The PTO, under the direction of Mrs. Duty, have rekindled the Labels for education program. You can begin collecting labels again and then turn them in to the PTO basket in the office. Please see the specific directions above.
