Fear
The novel of Beowulf is all about him going to battle with Grendel, Grendel's Mother, and a Dragon. Beowulf never really had any problems being scared or fear of losing to Grendel and Grendel's mother, those were both facile battles. According to the context he said “I’ve never known fear, as a youth I fought in endless battles. I am old, now,....” But his last battle was the hardest for him when he faced the dragon. Beowulf was scared when the dragon breathed fire and burnt his shield to the ground but he still had hope and defeated the dragon.
Dangerous Places
Throughout all of beowulf's life and battles he goings to some pretty dangerous places. When beowulf fought grendel in Herot, with is a meadhall. Beowulf was a very hard battle. Also had to fight Grendel's mother under water in the war room he didn't think it could get any harder than that. The most dangerous place was when beowulf fought the dragon in a tower.
Possibility of Death
Beowulf fights excessively throughout the story. There is a lot of danger and plays a big factor. According to the context, “at once and repaid him with her clutching claws, wildly tearing at him.” Beowulf loves fighting for the fame and glory and never gives up. At one point he almost died fighting Grendel’s Mother as it says in the paragraph.
Tests and helpers
Beowulf went through a lot of tests of i guess you could say manhood. He had his up and downs while fighting with grendel and grendel's mom and the dragon. He has had plenty of times that he could die from with fighting grendal with his bare hands, his sword not working on grendels mom, and the dragon melting all his armor.
