Reflections from Elder's Desk
This past week, I had an opportunity to attend a workshop with Michael Holt, National Director of School Initiatives with the Flip Flippen organization. He discussed the primary attributes of school transformation, which begins with the teacher and student. At AMCHS, there are multiple practices that we do well, but how can we improve? How can we set the tone where ALL students yearn to attend ALL their classes? What instructional practices do we need to abandon that do not foster healthy relationships? His presentation consistently reinforced the power of positive relationships, connectedness, expectations, and the impact culture and climate has on an organization. We all have a role to play for us to sustain a positive environment that fosters growth and individuality. Also, we must consistently examine our practices and understand we can affect those around us.
We have power, and we have influence to make a difference at AMCHS so continue to let your light shine.
