Ross Round Up

Engage. Empower. Educate. Every Day.

January 6, 2023

Hi parents!

On Tuesday night, Ross Elementary is presenting at the Kuna School Board Meeting to share some of the great things going on with students. We have 13 students and 2 staff members presenting about our AVID program, including our Poetry Slam and CAST Student Leaders.

Here's our presentation plan:

  • AVID--we have been selected as a demonstration school, which means that other schools from all around will come to see what we do at Ross that makes our educational program so strong. Two examples of how students are involved in their own learning and community-building are Poetry Slam and CAST Student Leadership.
  • Poetry Slam--5th graders wrote and performed poetry in our annual Poetry Slam run by our fabulous librarian, Mrs. Rasmussen. The three winning groups will be performing their original poems for the school board. Those students are Trystan P., Colton H., Luke W., Liam A., Charles T., Wyatt F., and Kaleb Z.
  • CAST Student Leadership--the Parent Advisory Committee had the idea to find more ways for students to be involved in leadership. 5th graders applied for CAST, and we selected 30 as CAST members. The 6 student leaders will be presenting about some of their ideas for making Ross an even better place--Jacob O., Raelynn T., Addie E., Colton H., Olivia O., and Michael M.

We're so excited to hear Ross students share what makes school special for them and how they plan to make school special for other students as well. If you'd like to watch their presentations, click this link at 6:00pm Tuesday night. The board meeting will be live streamed Tuesday night at 6:00pm and can be rewatched after as well.

Love,

Principal Tripp

Excusing Students from School

Parents, please remember to call the school in the morning at 208-922-1011 and let us know when your student will be absent. It helps us to know that they're OK when they're missing from school.

Pick Up Line Safety

Please make sure to get in the pick up line to pick up your student after school. That allows us to make sure that students are going home with parent-approved people. Thank you!
